TOURS and DEMONSTRATIONS
We are short on volunteers and staff for the moment, please contact us to see if anyone is available to give the tours.
TEACHERS . . . Book your Field Trips now. We have special admission fees for your class. Contact us for complete information. If you schedule in advance, the museum has in-house and on-grounds, twenty to thirty minute tours to offer to your class. You may choose from the following tours: One-Room School (in house), Volga German Haus (on-grounds), Harness Shop (on-grounds), and Hays Fire Dept. Museum (on-grounds) .
Don't forget to pre-register for 2011 Pioneer Day - May 11, 2011. Send time you would like to arrive, teacher's name, number of children & adults coming, grades of children, email of teacher to co-director@elliscountyhistoricalsociety.org
Traveling Demonstrations are available (advance registration only) (in Ellis County, Kansas area only) to go to your school or place of business (for a donation of $25-$40). Choose from the following demo's: Early Ellis County & Hays History or Toys and Games of Long Ago. We can also provide Power Point presentations to your business.
HISTORIC BUS TOURS . . . The Ellis County Historical Society Museum has two Historic Bus Tours each year, traveling to various counties in Kansas. These are fundraisers for the Society. Our tours are on a Sunday afternoon. Our Spring tour is in the month of April and our Fall tour is in the month of October.
The $45 ticket includes the tour, bus, on-board narrator, cost of admission to various places we enter, and a meal. These tours usually last from six to seven hours. Our narrator is Virginia Slimmer. No exchanges. No refunds. Tickets are available to purchase one month before the tour date at the following outlets:

2010 T O U R S
TROLLEY HOMES TOUR . . . JUNE 13, 2010 from 1 pm - 4 pm on a Sunday afternoon, we will travel by trolley and see the historic Justus Bissing, Jr. homes in the Hays area. On-board Narrator. We will plan to stop and go inside at least two of the homes. The cost of $10.00 per person includes the trolley, narrator, and the admission to the ECHS Museum to view the Justus Bissing, Jr. exhibit.
The trolley will depart promptly at 1 pm, please arrive a little early. Arrive and depart at the front of the museum, 100 West 7th Street, Hays, KS 67601. Advance tickets only. Tickets available at the ECHS Museum and the Hays Welcome Center, 27th & Vine Streets, Hays. Deadline for purchasing tickets is June 8, 2010.
