MV003 A Tribute to the Volga Germans: The Immigrant Woman DVD $25.00
This DVD stars Norma Pipkin as a Volga German immigrant recalling her life and experience. Mrs. Pipkin, who created the video for a Master's thesis, uses a Volga German accent as she tells her story in English, sometimes translating phrases into German, and also singing Volga German songs. The approximately 45-minute video was filmed in the Volga German Haus at the ECHS Museum. Those of the appropriate generation to judge it say that Mrs. Pipkin has done an excellent job of recreating the voice and feelings of a woman from the first generation of settlers. The character is based on Mrs. Pipkin's own great, great grandmother.
